Thinking About Seeing Dr Kwak Kim

Has anyone gone to see Dr Kwak Kim? I have heard great things about her on the immune forums. I did a search for her and I cannot seem to find a website for her office to call and make an apt. I am also wondering if there is anyone out there like me who has never been pregnant and saw her with success.

I started thinking about it today. I know from the forums that she requires you to see her in person first, so I checked plane prices and they seemed reasonable. I also checked and she is in my network. So I started to think why not? I have two weeks off in December so I thought that maybe if I called now I could get an apt then.

I saw Dr Braverman without success. He was also not nice, not in my network and very expensive. I think my problem is that his specialty is miscarriages. Since I cannot seem to  get pregnant I don't think he really knew what to do with me. He kept changing his mind about what my issue was and ultimately blamed my Endo.I did try neupogen which is his miracle drug without success. I was able to lower my NK and my TNF.I also took lovenox for my many blood clotting issues.

I have had every immune test I could find in Dr. Beer's book and on the immune forum. I also consulted Dr. Karen Pace who suggested more. Dr. Kim may have others or she may interrupt them differently. All immune tests have been covered so that is not an issue.I also read that Dr, Kim does work with US for uterine blood flow. I have many blood clotting issues so I am thinking that maybe she could be on to something with me.If possible, I would like to contact their office, send them my records, get a list of blood tests needed, so I can go over the results while I see her.

It is hard to give up and stop searching for possibilities. I started to look into adoption. I requested an info packet which was  a big step for me, but I have not told DH. I thought that maybe I would start the process slowly and pursue Dr. Kim at the same time.

  1. Hi Simone,
I see the word "perseverance" in your url and I think you choose it for a reason! From my own experience, I haven't been trying nearly as long as you have, nor have I seen nearly as many doctors, but it was really, really hard for me to stop going to acupuncture, to stop taking all my fertility supplements, and to stop monitoring my CM. I think that over the years, my habit was try, try, try, and it was so hard to accept that if I eventually get pregnant, it will be despite the fact that all of my interventions have failed.

It's so tempting to keep searching for a magic bullet, the one doctor who will cure us, but I think that sometimes, acceptance is the braver path.

I really hope you take this comment in the spirit in which it was meant, and I hope I'm not offending you.

    1. Hi Sarah,
No offense taken. I understood what you were trying to say. It has been really hard to know what to do and how much to push myself. I always thought I would stop when I had nothing left to try. I seem to keep finding more things to try.

    2. Trust me... there will ALWAYS be something else to try. It took me awhile to understand that, I thought I'd feel better knowing I tried everything, too, but there is just Sooo much out there. Always a new tx or a new combination, a new dosing schedule, etc.
But one thing I do know- you have to be ready to give it all up. No one can make that decision for you.
I'm praying! I know how long and hard you've been at this.

  2. Lisa @ lisabttc.wordpress.com is 35 weeks pregnant after seeing Dr. Kim. She also has a facebook site. She would be a great resource.

  3. I am a Dr KK patient and though I suffer from recurrent miscarriage I have had 2 babies under her care. I have a friend married 13 years who did conceive once with a doc who put her on clomid for a year but miscarried. She is about to deliver her second child.

I think it is worthwhile to have her look at your issues and definitely to have an U/S with Nadia who is the best.

You need to look up Rosiland Franklin University School of Reproductive Medicine.

Also, I live 35 minutes from her office and would be willing to host you if you come to spare you some expense. You may email me at oldfashionedbd@gmail.com

You are right about the blood clotting issues- if helpful I could write a list of tests she ran on me- I have 11 pages of lab results!!

    1. Hi Sunshine,
Thanks for the info. I have heard nothing but positive remarks about Dr. Kim so I thought it would be a good idea for a last try. I'm going to email you about the tests that she ran. I would love to see how many of them are new.

Here is a link to her. I am going for my first visit on September 3rd. You will need to send in all your medical records and insurance information before they will make an appointment. That took about 3 weeks for me. I also knew what it would cost out of pocket for the visit. They were also nice enough to let me know they accept a payment plan for up to 24 months.

    Good luck!

  7. I see Dr. Kwak-Kim. Their office is great. Still haven't had success but feel like I'm on the right path. They found I had hydro in my tubes and ended up having them removed. It was missed by all other tests previously. I've never had implantation and have HLA matches with DH. Did you get your appointment? It's certainly worth going especially when she is in network. Good luck. I'm not ready to give up yet.

  8. I am waaaay behind on this but wanted to chime in as well. There were a good number of us on the Catholic IF yahoo group who went to see her in the same 6 month span or so after hearing all the good things. We were all primary IF with no m/cs. Not one of us had success.
To this day I haven't "met" anyone who had never been pregnant and was successful there. I totally appreciate her approach, and logistically it makes scientific sense. But if egg and sperm aren't meeting to begin with, all the "implantation boosting" in the world won't make them do so.
I will check out your more recent posts to check in on your progress :)

    1. Hey, I have been thinking about you lately. You are going to laugh but when I started to google Dr. KK I came across your blog. I thought that you and I have been through almost all of the same stuff at different times. Thanks for your two cents on the people who had never been preg and did not have success with her. One day they will find out why there still seems to be a bunch of us who just never could do it, but it will too late for me. I just wrote a post about how I finally made the apt for adoption which is a huge step for me. If I wasn't so old, I might have gone to see her, but I don't want to get too old to adopt.

  9. Did you ever go see Dr KK? I'm looking into that now but reading Amy's comment, I'm thinking twice since my primary issue seems to LUFS.

  10. Hi Simmone,
I know this is little late to comment /ask question as you started this blog 2 years ago. I am sorry for what you went through. I am in the same boat as you were, had a miscarriage and molar pregnancy had enough of rough path. I came to know about Dr.KK through resolve.org and started researching on her and found your blog. I am looking for some specialist who can do all possible test in the world and do appropriate treatment(not general protocol as they do in many production like clinics),so can you please share your experience with Dr.KK?
    Thanks.

Thank you for stopping by. I love getting comments. You may also send me a private message if needed. I had to turn the word verification back on due to way too much spam.
